TOGETHER WE GIVE. #GIVINGTUESDAYNOW IS MAY 5, 2020
I Live Here I Give Here serves as the Central Texas community leader for #GivingTuesdayNow, a global day of giving and unity on May 5, 2020. This worldwide day of solidarity is an emergency response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19. It is designed to drive an influx of generosity, citizen engagement, business and philanthropy activation, and support for communities and nonprofits around the world. I Live Here I Give Here is proud to expand upon our annual #GivingTuesday efforts to lead the generosity movement for our community in collaboration with 200+ communities spanning 65 countries.
As part of our Central Texas campaign, we are excited to offer $10,000 in incentive funds for donations made to our 760 nonprofit members through AmplifyATX.org on May 5, including $5,000 in matching gifts from our reserve fund. Similar to Amplify Austin Day Golden Tickets, 20 donors will be selected randomly throughout the 24-hour #GivingTuesdayNow giving day, and will receive the opportunity to direct $500 each to one charity of their choice.
As we approach May 5, we hope to see people around the world tap into the power of human connection and strengthen communities at the grassroots level and beyond. Communities are encouraged to take action on behalf of first responders, as well as the world’s other — often forgotten — frontline workers: the nonprofits and community organizations that feed, house, educate, and nurture neighbors impacted by the global pandemic. The social sector is in crisis at the very moment the world needs it most, and we are calling upon you, our Central Texas community, to take action at this critical time. Let's embrace generosity to make our community more resilient by supporting local nonprofits serving the most vulnerable.
We’ve seen our community’s spirit of generosity in action, and know we can create transformative impact when we give together. #GivingTuesdayNow builds upon our 2019 “Actions for Good” GivingTuesday campaign, when we counted a record 8.4 million acts of generosity from Central Texans. We also hope to continue the momentum from Amplify Austin Day, which took place on March 5-6, 2020 and raised $12.3 million in unrestricted funds for 760 local nonprofit members. We want to see this generosity movement grow even stronger, and will continue to rally individuals, families, businesses, and foundations to support local nonprofits with your help!
